Women who are disappointed after a relationship has ended or if a date went wrong, often ask themselves (aloud) "Are there ANY good men left in this world?" As a woman who has kissed her fair share of frogs, I understand the sentiment. But, unlike some bitter women, I do believe that there are good men in this world ... some of them are just married to bad women.
Dating in a small town can be very interesting. Especially if you are over 30 . Here are some stories of mine and a few friends about our dating lives in Sunny "Alwayssummer" Suriname. Also check my other blog www.consuelaprade.blogspot.com Feel free to leave a comment under the stories

Neighborhood Watch
You have to love concerned neighbors. You know the retired kind older ladies who look out for everyone ... a little too much.
We have a few of those in our neighborhood and I love them. We have about one or 2 in every street and they are a tight group. Anytime I need to know something about someone, they have the tea. They are also the ones who manage the neighborhood WhatsApp group, keep everyone updated on developments and manage the HOA (Home Owners Association). That being said, as much as you love them, they can be a little too concerned sometimes.

Not like in the movies ... at all
We've all watched those romantic movies where the man comes home after a long trip and picks up his wife, hauls her to the bedroom and makes sweet love to her. How many of us have imagined ourselves into one of these situations, where your man has just missed you so much that he forgets everything else once he sees you and just wants to be close to you because he's missed your touch and scent on him.Tuesday, September 11, 2018
Love letters
In a time where people just slide into your DM, love letters are something kids have only seen in old movies their parents and grandparents like watching. They will never know the anxiety you feel when you (anonymously) send a letter to your crush. The process of writing it by hand in your best handwriting, or letting your best friend write it because she had pretty penmanship, asking another friend to slip it into his bag or history book and waiting to see if he'd act differently after he's read it is something you can't explain to kids who have never lived without internet and social media.

Size DOES matter
We women love to say that when it comes to men and their
package, size does not matter. “It’s the motion in the ocean” (although I can’t
believe you would call yourself an ocean, but that’s a different
discussion), “You have to know how to use the tool” “It’s the flavor that
counts” and whatever more, are many sayings men and women use when it comes to size and wether it matters or not. But let’s be honest, have you ever heard
a woman say she is so happy with her man’s small equipment?

Leave, Change or Accept
Relationships are hard work, especially the romantic kind. And being in a relationship where one partner is unfaithful is even harder.
Everyone can agree that it is not nice to think of the possibility that your partner is unfaithful to you.
In his book “the Power of Now”, Eckhart Tolle has a saying that I think is one of the best ways to deal with difficult situations like this. He says: ”When you complain you make yourself a
victim. Leave the situation, change the situation or accept the situation.”
I will give my view of this saying in the case of relationships where one partner is unfaithful.

Wrong house
No one loves an afternoon delight more than me. Having a fun
guest over on a rainy Sunday afternoon, have a warm cup of coffee under the
covers while you recover from some much needed exercising, is a good way you
waste the weekend away. That was exactly what I had in mind and what exactly
did not happen.
Nosy neighbors
Having your own living space has it’s perks. Having your own
living space with nosy neighbors is a whole different story.

A Flavorful Conversation
I had just finished my morning yoga and was sipping on a good cup of
dark Arabica coffee when he appeared like a vision of true Caribbean
perfection with the sun sparkling off his "still wet from his morning
swim"
body. He took a seat next to mine and looked at the breakfast menu. He
glanced my way and with a beaming smile he asked me what my flavor was.
"Coffee or other?" I replied. Intrigued by my shameless flirtations he
started with his own.

30 Women on the Most Hilariously Bad Things Guys Have Said During Sex
When the mood strikes, the lighting is set, your “downstairs” is groomed, and your mattress mate is someone you love (or at least love to see naked), sex can be quite the pleasurable experience (to say the very, very least).
But there are also those times when sex is... not so sexy. You know, like when your partner’s idea of “using his mouth” involves making mid-coitus cat noises. Saucy bedroom-speak is an art form -- and when his version of that involves bad puns or referring to your lady parts as a starchy vegetable, the only big “O” happening tonight will be you saying, “‘O’ my God, how quickly can an Uber get me out of here?”
Here, 30 women of all ages share horrific IRL sexytime
buzzkills of the verbal nature that have left their nether regions still
recoiling -- in some cases, decades later.

Big sis to the rescue
Having a younger brothers or sister can be a challenge
sometimes. We all love our siblings, but they always seem to get into some kind
of trouble. And then it’s big sis to the rescue.
My friend who is a make-up artist has one of those younger brothers. He is tall, smart and too good looking for his own health. Here is her story.
My brother is blessed with a nice body, good looks and a nice personality. Too nice sometimes, since he can’t say no to the ladies. I have no idea how his wife never finds out about his adventures, although I cover up for him quite a lot.
One day as I was cooking, cleaning the house and busy with my 2 year old. I heard text messages coming in, but my hands were full, so I decided to check them later. Then my cell phone rang, again unable to pick up at that moment, I let it ring out. When my home phone started making racket, I knew there had to be some kind of emergency. With my son dragging on my left foot and my hands soapy form the dishes I ran to pick it up. “Hey sis, OMG I thought I would never reach you. I need your help ASAP. I’ll be there in ten minutes.” There were a million things going on in my mind at that time. What had happened to him, did someone have an accident? Ten minutes never seemed that long. He pulled up in front of the house and I ran out only to see a healthy young man with a shameful grin on his face. That moment I knew he’d gotten himself into some kind of trouble with a woman. I had seen that grin enough times to recognize it. He walked up to me, gave me a hug and then I saw the problem. On his neck was the biggest and reddest hickey I had ever seen in my entire life. Instinctively I tried to wipe it off and then we both burst into laughter. You know the kind where tears start streaming down your cheeks and you have to sit down on the ground to catch your breath. It was during office hours, so the next thing I did was slap him at the back of his head and asked him what he was thinking. Apparently he had some fun with a side piece and she decided to leave her mark. We went inside sat him on a stool and went to get my supplies. I covered up his big little mistake up with foundation, contoured his neck and sprayed it all shut so it wouldn’t rub off on the collar of his shirt. He gave his big sis a hug and a kiss and off he went. As he drove away I saw the girl he was with sitting in the backseat of his car. The girl had been there all the time in that hot car, and he never told me. Later that week his wife called to tell me that she had never seen her husband in such a good mood like on that beautiful Thursday. He brought home flowers, took her out for dinner. He let her go to bed early, let her sleep in and was out before she got up. He later told me that his friends gave him tips on how to make that mark go away fast and I gave him a tip on not to get any on his neck in the first place.

Side chick rules
Some women never learn. I know it’s a cliché statement, but
there is truth in these words.
Having been on both sides of the relationship fence, both main chick and side chick, I kind of know how the waves rock the boat. I am not very proud to say that I have been more on the second side than the first, but hey if life throws you lemons, look for the tequila. I claim to be somewhat of an expert by experience in this field and therefore feel free to give some advice to the young and less experienced side chicks out there.
1
Understand that you are a side chick. Girls listen; if you know that the guy has a wife or girlfriend and you are merely a form of entertainment, please act the part. There is nothing more annoying than a side chick playing wifey.

2
You are not a priority. The man has a wife/girlfriend with one or more kids, they are important. You are only important at certain times when your services are needed.
3
Never ever say something negative about his wife. It is his job to complain about his wife or girlfriend at home. You don’t know her and therefore are not entitled to an opinion.
4
Don’t be a headache. He has a wife at home to make his life miserable. You are here to make it a little bit easier. So don’t complain about petty things like not getting enough attention.
5
Don’t ask him to leave his wife for you. That would make you the main chick and he will be out looking for a new side chick before you know it
6
Don’t call his house. You simply have no business doing that
7
Don’t call his wife to rub it in her face that you are sleeping with her man. She probably already knows that and tolerates your existence.
8
If you are his ex-girlfriend who he is still keeping around as a bedroom accessory, you have no business still being close with his mom and the rest of the family. Honey just so you know, they are all talking and laughing behind your back.
9
Know your place before someone puts you in it. You have no business telling everyone about your relationship with the guy. There is a reason you are not the main chick and your relationship is a secret.
10
Don’t fall in love with him. Because he will never fall in love with you. He has already fallen in love once with his wife.
11
Take care of yourself. Side chicks are disposable and easily replaced. The moment he sees a hotter number, he will forget all about you.Be sure to have a bank account with enough money to to support yourself
12
You have to stay beautiful and perfectly pretty all the time. He comes over to your place to find a sexy piece of ass. If he wanted to look at sweatpants and curlers, he could have stayed home with his wife
13
Don't become friends with his wife/girlfriend. That is just nasty.
14
Don't become jealous. You are not his wife/girlfriend. Don't be a side chick catching main chick feelings.
15
Do not ever leave any hickeys and bite marks on his body for anyone (read his wife) to see. It's unnecessary and trashy. What are you trying to prove?

Now that's awkward ...
When it comes to awkward situations, I seem to attract them
like honey attracts bees. I don’t know whether to call it misfortune or a
blessing, but these situations always turn into good stories I can share with
my readers.

Mr. Sunshine
I don't have a specific type of guy I like. For me it's not just the looks that matter, but I need to find you interesting enough to start up a good conversation and I have to feel comfortable enough around you in order to agree to go out on a date. I met Mr. Sunshine at the office of a distant cousin. I had to bring him something for his mother and his friend was there too. Without knowing me he started to flirt abundantly, telling me how many women he's had. I thought he was an annoying self centered prick who was too full of himself and had an ego bigger than the Titanic. He was one of those guys who said he could always "get any girl he wants".
As a friend of my cousin we saw each other on a regular basis, and you know how it goes. He becomes your friend, the annoying traits become less annoying until you barely notice them.
One evening he asked me out, not on a date, but just going out as friends. He had a business meeting at the bar where we were both regulars, I was going out anyway, so we decided that I would pick him up there and go out dancing. Upon arriving at the bar I saw him sitting at a table talking to a woman, so I figured that she was his meeting. After about 20 minutes he came up to me and said he was ready to go. I paid my tab, got up and started walking towards my car only to see him and (lets call her) Mary standing next to it. "This is Mary. She is joining us tonight" At this point I didn't have enough alcohol in my system to make a scene, but just enough for it to annoy me.
"So is she driving her own car there?"
"No Mary doesn't have a car, but come on, you car can easily take 3 people right?"
Again ... I didn't want to make a scene and spoil my evening, so Mr. Sunshine and Mary got into the car ... both in the backseat. I felt like a taxi driver taking a guy and his date to a party.
When we got to the club Mary wanted to sit by the bar and I wanted to dance.
You do understand that by now I was so annoyed with Mary, that i wanted to send her all the way to Bethlehem. I left them at the bar and went to the dance floor. A little while later they joined me on the dance floor, but it wasn't long before Mary wanted to leave. He came up to me and asked if I could give him and Mary a ride home, because she was bored and Tired. The look on my face was enough for Mary to call a cab and I never saw him or her again

Mr. Emotionally Unavailable
We have all
met that one guy who doesn’t know what he wants. One day he likes coffee, the
other he likes tea. He can’t decide between being single and in a relationship
and can’t make up his mind whether he likes you as a friend or romantically.
Well meet Mr. Emotionally Unavailable .He’s a great guy I
met through friends. Not my usual Strong Tall dark well-dressed and handsome
type, but a short and a bit on the heavy side all-around good guy. Most guys
catch my attention at a party or a bar, but my heart skipped a beat when he
passed me on the running track, wearing a t-shirt, sweatpants and sneakers. Ok
maybe I was tired and I had to catch my breath and that’s why I stopped and
noticed him. Sounds crazy I know, but I’ve seen him around before, but I never
paid much attention to him. We were introduced after the workout and we each
went our way. He was the first one to make contact. We started texting and he
was very nice and we met a few times. I’m not the most confident person, though
my friends will disagree, especially when it comes to expressing my feelings to
guys I like. Well it took me a while, but I finally did tell him. He was
surprised, he said he didn’t see it coming and the explained to me that he was
“emotionally unavailable”. Also he wouldn’t know what to tell his kids. He
didn’t want to compromise the already fragile relationship with his ex, by
bringing a new woman into their lives. What could I do? I mean we were friends,
I knew his situation, so I understood.
A few weeks later he calls me up to explain to me that he
met someone. They had a “connection” and his kids love her. O yes … I exploded.
All this time he wasn’t worried about his kids, he was worried about crowd control.
And
if telling me about it wasn’t bad enough, he wanted me to meet his new
girlfriend too. His excuse … “You are a dear friend and you are important to
me. I want her to meet the important people in my life.” Sure let her meet your
mother and why not throw in your ex too. I told him I didn’t have time for this
drama and forgot about it. Until a few weeks later on the running track that
is. I put my music on and started my warming up power walk when someone tapped
me on the shoulder. There Mr. unavailable was with his girlfriend. “Hi this is
(let’s call her) Jane. Jane this is Conny, one of my friends I wanted you to
meet.” And he ran off.
And then you expect me to stay calm and be nice righ …

Mr. Pasta
I'm a sucker for romance. I'm known for trying too hard, doing too much and spoiling men till they are rotten. I'm also a very independent woman, used to going out by myself , not needing any man to buy me dinner or drinks, being single for a long time does that to you. I had decided to stop being so giving and take a more laid back approach with men.

Mr. Sprite on the Rocks
As an honest lover of alcoholic beverages and firm believer
that if you keep dating you just might find that one person out there who might
be right for you, most of my dates start or end somewhere in a bar or
restaurant where they at least serve up a good red wine. Having friends who
either work in or own such establishments is a welcome benefit. They help me
judge the guy I'm with and occasionally help me get rid of a few.
